Coming in May: Networking Night at the exciting new Riverview Landing At Valley Forge!
New for 2005 The Chamber’s Franchise Council and Educational Development Committee: a number of members who are franchise owners have expressed an interest in a forum where ideas can be exchanged and potential cross promotions launched.  Additionally The Chamber is taking its partnership with Montgomery County Community College and looking to explore other ways that higher education opportunities can be developed in Greater Valley Forge.  If you might have an interest in either of these call The Chamber office.
Issues to watch: The highest priority right now will be watching budget events unfold around SEPTA.  Certain sectors rely heavily on the transit authority for employee transportation.  There are several questions though about so-called dedicated funding that need to be balanced and addressed.  Those who call for increases in gas taxes must keep in mind those industries like truckers that bear a disproportionate burden of these taxes.  Additionally these taxes have a tendency to become permanent and unbridled.  Pennsylvanians still pay an 18% tax on bottled spirits to pay for the Johnstown Flood of 1889.  There is some talk of an additional 1% on state sales taxes in the 4 suburban Philadelphia counties.  That would be unacceptable.  We will do our best to keep you informed and please don’t hesitate to let us know your thoughts.   Other areas of concern include how gambling revenue in Pennsylvania will be distributed to offset real estate taxes as well as changes in energy costs to promote the use of wind mills and other alternative fuels in the state.
Promote your business and The Chamber:  in a special pilot project we have with the Suburban and Wayne Times and King Of Prussia Courier newspapers.  It’s a great way to reach nearly 40,000 area residents with your message for details contact Karen Hudome, Suburban Courier Account Executive at 610.688.3000
Looking for good employees?  Go to www.kopinn.com and check out our new partnership with Journal Register Newspapers All Around Philly Jobs.  Great way to look for good help.   The Chamber will now be directing calls and e-mail from job seekers to the site.  Its convenient, cost-efficient and easy!
Looking for office space in the heart of King Of Prussia?  Consider the Chamber’s headquarters, the historic King Of Prussia Inn.   Additional parking was installed on December 30 and our thanks to the Gambone Brothers Development Company for their generosity in making that possible.
