What are people saying
about The Positive Pooch? |

I always thought Buddy would be a
good candidate for Therapy Dog, but in order to pass the test,
he had to be able to behave himself - on a leash and around
other dogs. My wife could not walk him he pulled so hard. In 6
weeks of Tuesdays at the Positive Pooch he went from pulling my
arm out of it's socket to walking calmly right by my side. He
also mastered all of the other items needed for his Canine Good
Citizen test AND his Therapy Dog test. But more than any of
this, I noticed that the bond between he and I has grown
stronger since we started Loretta's obedience training. I'm so
proud of him and I suspect he knows it. Buddy was always a good
dog. Now he's a great dog.
There is no question I would do Positive Pooch training again
for another dog. The classes are small so there is a good
amount of personal attention. The techniques work. The effort
is absolutely worth it.
Thanks again for everything...

I recommend Loretta Sherwood without
hesitation! My wife and I were at wit's end with our 6 month old
Golden "Buddy". Listening was something he wanted no part of. I
contacted the owner of " The Positive Pooch", Loretta, to
discuss possibly training Buddy. Loretta took Buddy for one week
and did a remarkable job. Loretta was able to not only train
Buddy to listen more effectively but he also was much easier to
handle. I think what makes Loretta an excellent trainer is her
love for the animals themselves. If you have the opportunity,
visit with her dogs and your decision will be an easy one when
looking for the right person to assist you with your dog
training needs. One very important factor in my choosing Loretta
was the way in which my Buddy seemed so relaxed around her. She
loves what she does and I believe that is why she is so
successful.

What a wonderful experience Cody and
myself had at The Positive Pooch training facility. I have a
chocolate lab who is now a very well behaved young dog. Cody and I
both learned about obedience skills and their payoff has been
tremendous. I can walk Cody around the neighborhood and people
comment "what an obedient dog". Loretta is a very patient and
sensitive trainer. She will give you and your dog continual praise.
There are great hints that are taught along the way that help you
understand your dog's behavior. I would highly recommend The
Positive Pooch for any training needs.

Well, its now June 2005 and Cooper has
done so well ..he comes .. he sits .. Cooper was the worst behaved
dog in Loretta's class. Now he is not at the top ..but almost at the
top.....I never thought Coop would come around where I would be
comfortable with the kids coming over and not running them down. Or
when we had company ...Coop was just out of control...Not any
more... All due to the patience of Loretta and her superb training.
Loretta won't give up on a dog. The owner might ...but not
Loretta....

Loretta Sherwood has been
unbelievable in teaching me how to train and work with my dog
Maya, a 15-month-old Border Collie. The Positive Pooch
facilities in Gulph Mills are spacious and perfect for dog
training. It's large enough that we can put our HEEL, SIT,
DOWN, STAY and COME to the test, yet contained so trainers and
dogs can stay focused. Group classes are fun. Our dogs get to
socialize, and dog owners get to share dog stories and training
tips. Classes are small enough that all dogs and owners get
Loretta's personal attention. It is hard to believe my dog Maya
and her class mates are the same dogs that started class several
weeks ago!
Loretta is very patient with all
students (dogs and humans!), she loves her work, and truly
understands dog behavior. Her approach to training is great. I
no longer have to carry a bag of treats at all times to bribe
my dog to do something, and my wife actually enjoys taking Maya
out for leash walks. In the advanced obedience class we started
working with agility equipment, which is fun for both dogs and
owners. Maya and I look forward to starting The Positive
Pooch's Beginners Agility Class this summer. We also use The
Positive Pooch for "dog sitting" when we are away. Maya loves
playing with Loretta's dogs and we have peace of mind
knowing our dog is in good hands.
I would recommend The Positive Pooch
to family and friends without hesitation.

I was referred to the "The Positive Pooch" the summer of 2004 when
things were getting out of control with my three, 1 1/2 year old
Dalmatians. I was starting to regret my family's decision to take
these 3 little pooches in because of the behavior problems we began
to encounter such as jumping, barking, not responding to commands,
and the best was the "counter surfing." We even went to another
facility for puppy classes. Two times. Only to learn how to give a
lot of treats, while receiving very little reward. Because of
Loretta's teaching technique, constant support, and the ability to
adjust the attitude of both myself and the dogs are you now welcome
to come into our home without being pounced on & barked at. These
three are not angels but with the knowledge base that I received
from one good trainer and my continued effort, I now enjoy my dogs.
Check out the picture gallery and you will see them in their best
"Down-Stay" pose. Loretta is always there when you need a guiding
hand, but remember you will only receive the results you desire by
what you yourself are willing to take the time and effort to put
into your dog. I feel so good about the accomplishments that we have
achieved that my grandson, a wiry 6 month old Lab, now attends
classes. I believe that anyone that sits in on one of Loretta's
classes will leave pleasantly surprised at what they witness.

I adopted my pit-bull mix puppy from the
CCSPCA. He was a bit hyper and I spoiled him which made him worse.
Thank goodness for Loretta and Positive Pooch. Willy learned how to
sit, stay, down, heel, watch and come all within just 6 classes. She
is so terrific, because she not only handles all the animals with
care and compassion, but she listens to each owners’ needs and
problems and teaches them how to get the most out of her training.
She helps you to train your dog within your comfort zone.
I found Loretta’s schedule of classes very convenient and I trusted
her abilities. As a former Kennel Tech at the CCSPCA I could have
gone with a trainer they recommend who even gives a 10% discount. I
chose Loretta and Positive Pooch instead. I found that she was
extremely attentive, confident and really understood both the
owners’ and animals’ needs. She even gave us fantastic and useful
tips that had nothing to do with training, just good animal care.
She is also a doer not a talker and that is very important.
The training center is perfect and new and our class was small
enough that we got personalized attention and coaching and yet large
enough that Willy got some play time and socializing with other
dogs, which is also important for their development. The whole
experience was so fantastic, we signed him up again and plan to
continue going through all the available training. Loretta is also
the only one we trust to sit Willy while we go away on vacation.
I cannot say enough about Loretta and Positive Pooch except try her.
